Brandt Jean, Amber Guyger, and What the World Needs More Of
This past week, Amber Guyger was found guilty in the murder of Botham Jean and sentenced to 10 years in prison. At her trial, Botham’s younger brother Brandt forgave Amber and expressed his desire for her to come to know Jesus before going over to hug her. Following this, the judge presiding over the case gave Amber her personal Bible and urged her to use it to come to know Jesus.
This real-life story of grace and mercy is going to be one that I hope we remember for a very, very long time. Christ was witnessed to at this trial (Mt. 10:32). Through all the pain and sorrow, Jesus was present in a major way and the world is taking notice.
This is what the world needs more of. Christians putting themselves aside so that Christ may shine through them. People are reacting to what Brandt and the judge did for Amber. How will they react to what you do? May our actions be empty of pride, full of grace, and point others to know Jesus.
