Jesus Is Better At Understanding Our Pain
There are only a handful of feelings better than the feeling you get when you come home from a long day of work, kick back on your recliner and relax. Unfortunately, not every day ends with such a delightful rest.
Last week we looked at the great rest that Jesus provides for His people (Heb. 3-4). Though the rest is better, it’s also a rest that looks towards the future. Some days it can be hard to keep moving forward when the rest seems so far away. To that point the Hebrew writer provides hope:
“For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.”
While our eternal sabbath rest awaits us in the future, we have the comfort now of knowing we have a high priest who understands our pains and can be talked to about our pains at any point in the present. We have a Savior we can go before at any time “with confidence” and find “help in time of need” (Heb. 4:16).
Jesus understands our pain better than any person could and stands at the ready to bring us peace when we come to Him.
