What Makes Christianity "Better"

For just a moment imagine what it would have been like to sit on the mountainside and hear Jesus preach. How would His words have sounded? What is the reaction of the crowd around you?

Imagine walking through town after town seeing lame people stand up and walk and deaf people hear. How would these miracles make you feel?

Imagine having seen and heard about these and more amazing moments from the life of Jesus only to turn around a few years later and leave Christianity.

This is the position the Christians in Hebrews find themselves in. Once they were people who heard the incredible miraculous feats of Jesus. Now, they were people who would rather ignore all of that and go back to Judaism.

Over the last month I have had the pleasure of studying through Hebrews with a couple young minister friends of mine. Even though we have only studied together for a short time, I have been reminded, through Hebrews, of the wonderful nature of Christianity, specifically how it is “better” than anything else. Over the next few weeks we’re going to explore the concept of “better” throughout the book of Hebrews and see what makes Christianity so special.

Next week we’ll look into what makes Jesus a much more “superior” (our word for better) messenger than those that came before Him.

If you want to get a head start on the study read through Hebrews 1:1-2:4 this week.
